Still more about the Rooke Travel Prize Party (Dec. 4, 7:30 pm, in The Trend)

More from Lewis MacLeod  —

Very busy building gingerbread houses, handcrafting 1,000 individuated snowflakes and affixing them to my office door (You know how it is…), so I must be brief.

Tonight at the Trend Pub (in order of appearance):

1) Limericks.  Limericks. Limericks.

I tried to calculate how many National (and International) Awards (and Shortlists) have featured our celebrity limerick writers. It got tiresome. Several Dozen, at least.

They wrote these as single-use items just for you. Their publishers don’t even know.  These compositions are almost certainly in violation of legally binding contracts. The least you can do is show up.

(FYI: Michael Winter is composing one as we speak.  While simultaneously hunting a Moose.  What comparable multi-task are you capable of?)

Get your own limerick together.  We want to hear them.

2) Kelsey McNulty.  A really fine and versatile accordion and piano player, with her friend, Rebecca Hennessey, on trumpet.  Kelsey’s arriving straight from a month long residency at the Banff Centre!  If you want to see how a thug plays accordion, you can watch me tomorrow with the Red Finks; if you want to see somebody do a good job, tonight’s the night.

I think I showed you this before, but it can sustain several listens:

Or this, brand new as of two days ago, from one of her side projects, The Boxcar Boys.  This is like super elite, insider, stuff.  I don’t think there are ten youtube views yet… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KixkZACL_y0

3) Rooke Travel Prize Winner, Joel Vaughan, regaling us with  tales of his adventures in England and France, quietly goading us toward revolutionary sensibilities while simultaneously encouraging our interests in arts and crafts.

You can read some of his blog and see some cool pictures here: http://www.postfangled.ca/travel/?page_id=31

More insights and images toni ght!!!!

4) Another set from Kelsey and Rebecca…

5) Who knows??????

Free food and unfree drink running throughout. It starts around 7:30, but drop in whenever you can.

Fun times for fun people.  Are you one of them?
